Huawei chairman is optimistic about the company’s return to the throne

Back in the day, Apple and Samsung used to dominate the smartphone charts, while Chinese vendors like Huawei, Oppo, Xiaomi, and Vivo could only look on in envy. That all started to change a few years ago when Chinese smartphone makers started to gain ground, and Huawei became the first real threat to Apple and Samsung’s dominance.

In fact, for a brief period of time, Huawei was the number one smartphone vendor in the world, but that all came crashing down when the US government placed Huawei on the Entity List, barring them from working with the likes of Google and other companies. But Huawei is still optimistic about their eventual return to glory.

According to Huawei’s Chairman Guo Ping, he was quoted as saying that he believes that the company will eventually be able to regain the throne.

“Huawei will continue to exist in the field of mobile phones and with continuous advances in chip production, the smartphone throne will eventually return.”

Right now, Huawei has started to push out phones that run on its brand new HarmonyOS, an alternative to Google’s Android. One of the advantages that Huawei might have over other companies that tried to compete against Android is that they have managed to build themselves a loyal following in Asia, especially their home country of China, which should give them the numbers they might need to succeed.

It remains to be seen how HarmonyOS will be received in other countries where there are still plenty of Android alternatives complete with Google’s services, but we suppose we can’t blame the company’s Chairman for his optimism.
