Learning how to use your Chromebook just got a whole lot more fun

If you find yourself wanting to switch to a new operating system, it can feel like a pretty daunting task. The buttons aren’t always in the same place across the different operating systems, and you’ll end up needing to re-train your brain to remember the new keyboard combinations and shortcuts.

With the explosion in popularity over Chromebooks, this has turned into a bit of a frustration for some. Going through the setup process is fine enough, but actually learning how to do everything on your Chromebook can cause too many headaches. In an effort to make the transition a bit easier, Google has announced “Chromebook Gamified Training”.

The “game” itself takes about 30 minutes to complete, but takes you through just about every facet of Chrome OS on your Chromebook so that you can learn how the operating system works. Sure, the jokes can be made about it just being the Chrome browser on a laptop, but Chrome OS is so much more than that.

As you progress through the game, the completion bar in the left fills up, and you have different areas to progress through on your way to learning everything there is to know. The game consists of different videos to watch, along with various tasks to complete, teaching you how to use your Chromebook along the way.

If you’ve been thinking about trying out a Chromebook and Chrome OS, the best part is that you don’t even need a Chromebook. Instead, you can just fire up the training game in the Chrome browser and get started. Of course, this might be a bit difficult when it comes to learning keyboard shortcuts, but at least you’ll be able to get your feet wet first.
