Xiaomi plans to launch a new “Civi” series of smartphones next week

Earlier today, Xiaomi shared a teaser poster for a new series of smartphones that will be announced on September 27th. The devices will fall under a new “Xiaomi Civi” branding, and are likely set to replace Xiaomi’s current lineup of Mi CC handsets.

With the Mi CC devices, this gives Xiaomi the opportunity to flex its camera muscles a bit, while still focusing on the mid-range market. The Civi is expected to do the same, and rumors point to these upcoming devices to provide more of a focus on the selfie camera instead of the rear-camera system.

As for what we can expect, it’s likely that there will be two new devices showcased at the event. The standard model is slated to include a 6.55-inch display with a 64MP primary rear camera, while being powered by the Snapdragon 780G. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi Civi Pro could feature the same 108MP ISOCELL HM3 camera that is found in the Galaxy S21 Ultra. It’s also expected to use MediaTek’s Dimensity 1200 chipset, instead of opting for Qualcomm processor.

Unfortunately, and as expected, Xiaomi has not revealed any specifics as to what these devices will actually include. So we’ll just have to wait until next week when the official announcement is made to learn what’s next in Xiaomi’s arsenal of budget-friendly smartphones.

Xiaomi has had quite an impressive year, and it’s clear that the company isn’t done just yet. The Civi series could definitely turn some heads depending on how much these devices cost, along with what other features are to be implemented.

Xiaomi’s Civi event will be held on September 27th at 2 PM CST, or 2 AM ET.
