Back in August, we heard rumblings about a new Google One subscription being made available for T-Mobile subscribers. Today, that plan was announced by T-Mobile, as subscribers can now get an additional 500GB of cloud storage through Google One for just $5 per month. Plus, you can enjoy a 30-day free trial “for a limited time”, if you want to see what Google One is all about and if it works for your needs.
This comes after Google and T-Mobile announced a partnership in March of 2021, that already provides a $10 monthly discount on YouTube TV if you are a T-Mobile subscriber. Here’s what T-Mobile says are the best benefits of signing up for Google One:
- Enjoy peace of mind that their photos, videos, contacts and more on their mobile devices are safely backed up to the cloud. If they break or lose their phone, it’s easy to transfer important phone data from their old device to a new one
- Get extra cloud storage to use across Google Drive, Gmail and Google Photos, so they don’t have to worry about running out of space for their important files
- Securely store and access files online from any device, for easy access on the go
- Share their storage space and plan benefits with up to five additional people — regardless of whether they are on the same T-Mobile account
There’s also the added benefit of gaining 10% credit back on purchases made at the Google Store, along with “extended trials” for services like YouTube Premium and Stadia. If you want to sign up for Google One, you can do so right from the T-Mobile app on your phone, or by accessing your account through T-Mobile’s web client. Those who have not yet migrated from Sprint to T-Mobile can access this deal via the T-Mobile Tuesdays app.
Looking at Google One’s current subscription tiers, this is a pretty great deal for T-Mobile subscribers. You can sign up for Google One’s 100GB, 200GB, 2TB, or 5TB plans. However, there is no current way to get the 500GB tier for $5 per month if you aren’t a member of T-Mobile.
