Smartphone cameras these days have certainly improved massively from the good old days with VGA resolution that offered questionable image quality and colors. These days, smartphone cameras have become smarter and improved on quality to the point where in some instances, it might be difficult to tell if a photo or video was taken by a phone or a professional camera.
This is something that Samsung is hoping to prove as the company has announced their new “Filmed #withGalaxy” campaign. As part of this campaign, Samsung will be partnering with famous directors and getting them to shoot short films using the Galaxy S21 Ultra to prove how good the cameras are.
This includes directors such as British director Joe Wright, best known for movies like Atonement, Darkest Hour, and an episode of Netflix’s Black Mirror episode. It will also include Chinese director Sha Mo who directed movies like Love Will Tear Us Apart and My Huckleberry Friends.
Wright will be showing off his Galaxy S21 Ultra shot movie, Princess & Peppernose, while Sha Mo will be debuting Kids of Paradise, at the Busan International Film Festival later this month. These short films will show off some of the Galaxy S21 Ultra’s camera features like the 13mm ultrawide camera and also Director’s View.
This wouldn’t be the first time that we’ve seen films shot using smartphones. Some of you might recall the movie Tangerine from 2015 that was shot using the iPhone 5s, but it’s still exciting to see how these newer movies will turn out.
