It’s embargo day! Which means that a little bit ago, a wave of Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro reviews went live from some of your (other) favorite Android websites. We’re still waiting to get our hands on both of these devices, so you’ll have to wait a little bit longer to see what we have to say. But in the meantime, here are some highlights of what you can expect when the Pixel 6 or 6 Pro finally hit your doorstep this week.

The Pixel 6 Pro is a phone I’d describe as refreshing. For Google, it marks a new chapter in not just the company’s smartphone lineup but also in its hardware ambitions as a whole. The Tensor chip inside is a huge bet for the future, and as far as it looks right now, it seems like the odds are in Google’s favor.

Google has never quite managed to deliver a pure winner with its line of Pixel smartphones. Each iteration has suffered some small issue holding it back. With the Pixel 6 Pro, Google has come perhaps as close as it ever has to dialing in the right mix of form, features, and functionality to appease fans of flagship phones.

This time around, Google pulled out all the stops for the Pixel 6 pro, offering up a full-tier flagship phone at a compelling price. Using its own in-house silicon and a bevy of AI-powered features, the Pixel 6 Pro rockets itself to the top of the must-have list of smartphones this year and proves that Google still has what it takes to remain the camera king.

Whichever version you’re considering, the Pixel 6 series is a superb return to form. Google is clearly aware that its strengths lay in smart software and excellent photography, and those are the areas where the Pixel 6s deliver most. The company also didn’t neglect basics like battery life and display, and though I wish the fingerprint sensor was faster, there’s little to complain about. Best of all, Google is offering you all these flagship features for hundreds less than the competition.
