If it wasn’t obvious by the availability of Metro by T-Mobile in Walmart locations, there’s a definite boom for those looking for low-priced cellular plans. Cricket Wireless is another company that is continuing to see growth, as the carrier has announced it now has 12.4 million subscribers.
To celebrate this, Cricket is now removing the 8Mbps speed caps on its $30, $40, and $55 plans, while also bringing 5G connectivity to all of its subscribers. With these changes, a family of four can get 5G connectivity on all four lines for just $25 per month. Plus, if you’re already a Cricket Wireless subscriber, there’s nothing else that you need to do, as 5G connectivity is being enabled.
Something that Cricket Wireless is really good at is giving back to its subscribers. The carrier already includes things like HBO Max (the ad-supported tier) and a year of Sam’s Club memberships if you sign up for the $60 per month plans. Plus, you can start investing with Acorns, courtesy of Cricket, as the carrier will invest $1 into their Acorns account every time a monthly payment is made.
The only downside to these changes is that with the addition of 5G connectivity and the removal of speed caps, you might find yourself burning through your data limits much faster. But on the bright side, you won’t have to worry about any of those limitations and can now fully enjoy the latest smartphones equipped with 5G.
