According to the latest series of rumors, the Galaxy S22 series is already in mass-production, suggesting that we could see an official unveiling shortly after the beginning of 2022. Following the latest rumor, a new series of renders has appeared showing off the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus. These renders don’t reveal all too much that we didn’t know, as Samsung looks to be playing the conservative game when it comes to the design of these two handsets.
As we can see from these new renders, it’s potentially going to be rather difficult to differentiate the Galaxy S21 from the Galaxy S22 at a glance. The camera hump on the back is largely the same, even down to the LED flash being placed outside of the bump.
Instead, it seems that the biggest changes coming to the Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus will be in the screen size. The Galaxy S22 is said to feature a 6.06-inch AMOLED display with a FHD+ resolution, while the Galaxy S22 Plus will come in with a 6.55-inch AMOLED display. These are down from the 6.2-inch and 6.7-inch displays, found on the S21 and S21 Plus, respectively.
Along with these new renders, a bit more information about the specs have been shared, as it seems the Galaxy S22 will not see an increase in charging speeds. Instead, we will see max charging speeds limited to 25W on the standard S22, while the Galaxy S22 Plus and Ultra could see that bumped up to 45W. Considering that this is one of the big areas where Samsung is currently lacking, it will be nice to see faster charging speeds available.
Finally, the expectation is that Samsung will use its new Exynos 2200 processor paired with an unnamed AMD GPU in global markets, while Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 898 will handle the heavy-lifting here in the U.S. and China. Unfortunately, there’s no mention of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, but previous leaks and renders suggest that the S22 Ultra will essentially be turned into a Galaxy Note device, complete with an included S Pen and a redesigned camera module to accommodate the added S Pen housing.
