The Moto G200 offers flagship performance but likely won’t be coming to the US
It’s been a busy week for Motorola, as the company unveiled the all-new Moto G Power (2022). The company has also been teasing the release of a new device that will be powered by the Snapdragon 888+, and as it turns out, that device is the Moto G200.
Along with four other new Moto G devices, the Moto G200 is the successor to the Moto G100 from last year, and is the company’s first device to be powered by the Snapdragon 888+. Accompanying this flagship chipset is a massive 6.8-inch LCD display complete with a 144Hz refresh rate and an FHD+ resolution.
Paired with the SD888+, Motorola has included 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage. You’ll find a rather basic 16MP selfie camera in the hole-punch cutout on the front of the device. But on the back, we have a total of four different cameras, including a 108MP beast that offers 9-to-1 pixel binning and is capable of recording videos at 8K resolution. On the back, Motorola has also included a 13MP ultra-wide lens that doubles as a macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor.
Given the phone’s massive display, you might be hoping to see an equally-as-large battery, and Motorola delivered. The G200 sports a 5,000mAh cell complete with 33W fast charging, which isn’t as fast as we have seen elsewhere, but it’s still plenty good enough to get your juiced back up somewhat quickly. Rounding out the G200’s specs is IP52 water and dust resistance, which may be a bit disappointing, but there’s a good reason for the company opting for something lower than IP68. Pricing for the Moto G200 starts at €450 (~$510) in Europe, with Motorola confirming plans to bring the device to Latin America.
All of this for around $500 sounds like it’s too good to be true. Well, that’s only partially the case as it doesn’t seem as though Motorola plans to bring the G200 to the U.S. Instead, this device will likely be limited to Europe and Latin America, leaving us here in the States still hoping for the return of a Moto flagship.
