The initial launch of Samsung’s foldable phones certainly did not inspire much confidence, but the company pressed on and several generations later, handsets like the Galaxy Z Flip 3 have proven to be quite the smashing success.
So much so that it doesn’t really come as a surprise to learn that Huawei is planning to challenge the device with a handset of their own, which based on a recent teaser will be known as the Huawei P50 Pocket. The handset will be revealed in its full glory on the 23rd of December, but in case you couldn’t wait, you’re in luck.
This is because a series of photos posted onto Weibo by fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar have revealed real-life images of the upcoming smartphone. The photos feature Chinese actress and singer Guan Xiaotong in a variety of poses with the handset, giving us a much better look at the phone compared to the teaser images and the patent drawings.
For the most part, it looks more or less like the Galaxy Z Flip 3 in terms of its design, although the design of the camera modules is different, and Huawei has even opted to give the secondary display a circular cutout that is reminiscent of a smartwatch. Also, this particular version that was photographed appears to sport some kind of textured surface, but we’re not sure if this is a special edition or if it will be the one standard designs offered.
We expect more details will be revealed at the event next week, so check back with us then for the updates.
