One of the weirdest and frankly most awesome bits during the Google I/O 2021 Keynote was the introduction of the Blob Opera. For the unaware, the Blob Opera is a set of four blobs that make use of machine learning to “sing” a variety of different songs. But you can also record songs yourself by dragging the different blobs up and down or back and forth.
Jingle Blobs, jingle Blobs
Jingle all the way ~
Oh what fun we have in store —

Just in time for Christmas, Google has announced the return of the Blob Opera, as they can now perform a handful of Christmas songs. All you need to do is head over to the website and then click the Christmas Tree icon in the bottom right corner. Santa hats will fall from the sky, landing on each of the blobs, and snow will begin to fall on your screen.
Then, you can click the playlist button next to the Christmas tree toggle and select from one of the following songs:
If you do nothing, the Blob Opera will continue to perform the same song over and over again. However, there’s a Play / Stop button in the bottom left corner if you want to pause. Or, you can switch to a different song by clicking the playlist button and selecting something different.
It may not be much, but it’s definitely an awesome way to have a little bit of fun to celebrate the holiday season. Personally, I’ve set up the Blob Opera to perform in a separate window and have been switching between the different songs to help get me in the Christmas spirit before I go and start wrapping presents that should have already been done.
