Although CES 2022 doesn’t officially kick off until January 5th, some company’s are getting a head start. Samsung is one example, as the company has not only announced a slew of new TVs and monitors, but is also announcing the Samsung Gaming Hub.
The Gaming Hub will be arriving on select Tizen-powered smart TVs, and will make it possible to enjoy some of the best game streaming services right from your TV. The list of available options includes NVIDIA GeForce Now, Google Stadia, and others.
The Samsung Gaming Hub will empower players to discover and jump into the games they love faster through game streaming services. Players will have access to an extensive library of games through Samsung’s partnerships with industry leaders – NVIDIA GeForce Now, Stadia and Utomik – and that’s just the beginning.
One omission, at least for the time being, is Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass. However, Samsung stated that more services will be coming to the Gaming Hub later, leaving the door open for a potential Game Pass launch in the future.
Along with providing access to some of the best game streaming services, the Gaming Hub also brings support for YouTube Gaming. You’ll be able to access the app right from the Gaming Hub, and will be able to follow your favorite streamers without needing to download a different app or navigate away from the Hub.
Unfortunately, Samsung did not provide a firm timeline as to when this new Gaming Hub would be released. Nor do we know whether this will only be available on Samsung’s 2022 lineup of smart TVs or if it will arrive on older models. At this time, all we know is that the new feature will begin arriving later this year.
This is the type of feature that we want to see on more smart TVs, as cloud gaming continues to surge in popularity. The only potential concern that we can see depends on the amount of storage available on these smart TVs. Downloading multiple game streaming apps is great as you’ll be able to enjoy games from the different services.
However, smart TVs and streaming sticks are notorious for not having enough storage to house all of the different apps and services that we rely on. Hopefully, Samsung has provided enough storage so we won’t have to pick and choose between apps.
