For years, OnePlus users have bemoaned the fact that in order to get reliable pictures, you would need to side-load GCam or perform a bunch of edits after the photo was taken. Last year, the company began attempting to rectify those concerns as it announced a major partnership with Hasselblad. The OnePlus 9 Pro was a bit too far along in the timeline to warrant any meaningful changes, but now that a year has passed, OnePlus is showing off what the OnePlus 10 Pro will be able to produce in part due to the Hasselblad partnership.
The OnePlus 10 Pro, when released, will ship with the second-generation Hasselblad Pro Mode that will work with all three of the rear cameras found on the device. This includes an all-new RAW+ format that combines the benefits of snapping photos in RAW with the power of the phone’s computational capabilities. The end result provides images that feature “greater dynamic range, noise reduction, and more that empowers users that love editing their shots.”
As we learned earlier this week, the OnePlus 10 Pro is equipped with a triple camera setup, headlined by a 48MP wide-angle lens, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and an 8MP telephoto sensor. But instead of just recycling the same ultra-wide camera found in the OnePlus 9 Pro, the company’s latest flagship will offer a 150-degree Field of View. This will pair quite nicely with the new Fisheye Mode that gives you the look of a fisheye lens, without actually needing to apply any third-party lenses. Those who don’t want to use the Fisheye Mode will still be able to enjoy a more-traditional 110-degree Field of View.
Last but not least, OnePlus detailed its all-new Movie Mode that will be making its debut with the OnePlus 10 Pro. With this enabled, you will be able to adjust various levels while recording, including ISO and shutter speed. OnePlus is also making it possible to record videos in LOG format, which “offers greater dynamic range and more information in shadows and highlights”. Considering that video recording on Android phones still can’t match up completely with the iPhone, OnePlus is hoping to close the gap by quite a bit in 2022.
As a reminder, the OnePlus 10 Pro will be officially released in China first, starting on January 11. The phone will then arrive in other regions including the US, India, and Europe “later in 2022.”
