Earlier this year, after initially rumored to launch back in 2021, Samsung officially took the wraps off the Galaxy S21 FE. This is the company’s more budget-friendly version of the Galaxy S21 flagship that launched in 2021, so if you don’t want to spend the money on the Galaxy S22 but still want flagship-ish performance, then this is the perfect device for you.
Sure, it might not necessarily pack the best display (only FHD+) or the best cameras, but at an asking price of $599, it’s actually a pretty good deal all things considered. Now, the problem is that if you bought it from a carrier, the phone’s SIM is locked until the contract expires.
If you need to unlock the phone’s SIM, don’t worry because there are actually a couple of different methods that you can try out that we have listed below.
- SMOOTH SCROLLING: The 120Hz display delivers a super smooth scroll, with optimized refresh rate, and a fast touch response...
- REAL DISPLAY VISION: The high quality display with Dynamic AMOLED 2X delivers vibrant color and brightness, even in bright...
Unlocking through your carrier
If you don’t want to spend money unlocking the SIM on the Galaxy S21 FE, there is actually a free option and that is to get the SIM unlocked from your carrier. There are ac couple of requirements in order for this to work and that includes:
- You need to be in good standing with your carrier, meaning that you don’t have any outstanding bills and that the contract with your carrier for the phone has expired
- You’ll also need to make sure that you have owned the device for at least 60-90 days
These requirements might differ from carrier to carrier, so your best bet would be to call them and find out what exactly you will need. If the phone is still too new in the contract, they might not necessarily unlock it for you, but as this is a free option, why not give it a shot? Worst-case scenario they turn you down and then you can move on to the next option, but in case they do, here’s how you can unlock the Galaxy S21 FE’s SIM for free.
- On your Samsung Galaxy S21 FE handset, launch the Phone app and dial *#06# to pull up your phone’s IMEI number
- Write the IMEI number down somewhere so you can refer to it later
- Call your carrier and request for your SIM unlock code
- You will probably be asked to provide the IMEI for the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE
- If you meet all the requirements that we mentioned above, the SIM unlock code will be sent to the email address you provided in the next 2-5 days.
- Once you’ve received your code, swap out the SIM with a SIM from another carrier
- Enter the SIM unlock code that you received in your email when prompted and you’re set!
Getting the unlock code from a paid third-party service
In the event your carrier tells you that they won’t/cannot unlock the SIM for the Galaxy S21 FE right now, don’t worry because there’s another option using Android SIM Unlock’s services which you’ll have to pay for. Don’t worry, this fee is a pretty small fee and worth it if you value having a phone with an unlocked SIM.
- On your Samsung Galaxy S21 FE handset, launch the Phone app and dial *#06# to get the device’s IMEI number
- Write the IMEI number down
- Go to Android SIM Unlock’s website
- Enter your device’s IMEI number
- Complete the checkout process with your payment and contact information
- Once payment is made, you should then receive the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE’s unlock code either through SMS or email
- The moment you’ve received your code, you can then swap out the SIM on your phone with a SIM from another carrier
- You should be prompted to enter the SIM unlock code that you received in your email, and once you’ve done that, you should be good to go
