Pixel 6a benchmarks confirm Tensor chipset, 6GB of RAM

When Google launched the Pixel 6 back in 2021, the company also unveiled its first ever custom chipset, Tensor. This year, we expect that Google will most likely be launching the Pixel 6a, a cheaper variant of the Pixel 6, and now leaked benchmarks have revealed some potential specs for the phone.

According to the benchmarks, the upcoming Pixel 6a will also apparently be powered by the same Tensor chipset as the Pixel 6. This is good news for would-be customers who might have otherwise been a bit worried that maybe Google could opt to use a different, lower-end chipset to help keep costs down.

The benchmarks also reveal that the phone will come with 6GB of RAM, which is more or less the standard we see in mid-range devices these days. Other than that, not much else is known about the phone for now, except maybe its potential release date.

A report from last week suggested that the Pixel 6a could be delayed and may be skipping out on I/O 2022 which is expected to be held late May. Instead, the report claims that due to the ongoing global chip shortage, the Pixel 6a might launch in late July instead. This means that if you were hoping to see the phone in the coming months, that may not be happening so don’t hold your breath.
