So you’ve gotten your hands on Samsung’s latest flagship phones, the Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S22+. These are some of the most powerful Android smartphones available in the market today but seeing as they are brand new (at this time of writing), you might have gotten it from your carrier.
This in turn means that the SIM card of your phone is locked to your carrier, making it a bit difficult if you plan to travel and want to buy a local SIM instead of paying the roaming charges which are most definitely a lot more expensive. This is where unlocking your phone’s SIM card can come in handy.
The good news is that unlocking the SIM of your phone is pretty easy and there are a couple of different options available to you. One of which will be free and done through your carrier, which is free if you’re successful, or the other would be to use Android SIM Unlock’s services which is paid, but is a good alternative if your carrier won’t unlock your phone for you.
If you don’t want to spend money unlocking the SIM on the Galaxy S22 or Galaxy S22+, there is actually a free option and that is to get the SIM unlocked from your carrier. But before you get too excited, there are several requirements that you’ll need to meet first before your carrier unlocks it for you, and they are:
Assuming you meet those requirements, then the process of unlocking the SIM is pretty easy, just follow the steps below:
We should note that depending on your carrier, the requirements might be slightly different as different carriers might have different rules. Your best bet is to just call your carrier and ask them what they need and then move on from there.
Now, in the event your carrier won’t unlock the SIM for the Galaxy S22 or Galaxy S22+, don’t worry because there’s another option using Android SIM Unlock’s services. This is a paid service, but it is a relatively small fee that for some of you, might be worth paying for the flexibility of being able to insert any SIM card into their phone even while on contract.
Keep in mind that when you unlock the phone’s SIM that it does not release you from the contract you have with your carrier. You’re still obligated to pay your bills and phone repayments in a timely manner. All this does is give you the freedom and option to use the phone with a different SIM, whether you’re in a different country or are using a different carrier’s network.
