The Honor Magic4 Ultimate boasts a camera that could truly perform some magic

There are many things that can determine how good a phone’s camera is. This includes the lens it uses, the software it uses to process your images, and of course, let’s not forget the sensor. Now if there is a reason why many smartphones find it difficult to rival a DSLR or mirrorless is due to its size, where the larger sensor that can capture more detail obviously wouldn’t fit into our phones, but it looks like Honor is getting closer.

The company has taken the wraps off its latest top-of-the-line smartphone in the form of the Honor Magic4 Ultimate. If you’re wondering why this sounds familiar, it is because it is essentially an upgraded version of the Magic4 Pro that was unveiled earlier this year where one of the key features of the phone is its camera, where Honor has managed to cram a 1/1.12-inch sensor, an upgrade over the Pro which had a 1/5.6-inch sensor.

The sensor itself is 50MP so in terms of megapixel count, it’s still the same. According to Honor, they believe that with the new sensor, it will be capable of rivaling compact cameras with 1-inch sensors and lenses with an f/1.8 aperture.

The phone also packs other cameras like the ultra-wide camera which has also been upgraded to a 64MP 1/2-inch sensor, and there will also be the addition of a 50MP spectrum enhanced camera previously found on the Honor Magic V.

As for the rest of the phone’s specs, we’re looking at a 6.81-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 1,312 x 2,848, and a dynamic refresh rate that goes from 1Hz to 120Hz. The phone is also powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset and is accompanied by 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, with a 4,600mAh battery with support for 100W fast wired charging.

The phone is expected to be available in China later this year where it will be priced at $1,260.
