In the past few years, Google has been releasing budget variants of its Pixel handsets with its “A” series of Pixel phones. These phones are priced cheaper than their flagship counterparts and of course, to hit those prices Google had to sacrifice certain features and hardware.
This is fine for those who are more price conscious, but if recently leaked benchmarks are any accurate, this year’s Pixl 6a could be quite the value proposition. According to a Geekbench listing discovered by Android Headlines, it appears that the Pixel 6a seems to perform pretty much on par with the Pixel 6.
There are some slight differences but those could be easily attributed to a margin of error and re-running those benchmarks could probably yield different results, but for now and assuming they’re accurate, it looks like the Pixel 6a could be a great value for money handset.
That being said, these benchmarks shouldn’t be too surprising. This is because based on earlier rumors, the Pixel 6a is rumored to be powered by the same Tensor chipset as the Pixel 6. This means that in terms of performance, it should be pretty much on par and that any differences will probably be in terms of the display and cameras.
In any case, the handset is rumored to be making its debut at Google I/O in May alongside the rumored Pixel Watch, so be sure to check back with us next month for the details.
