While there are many speaker companies out there, one of the unique features that Sonos has to offer over most of its competitors is that users can stream music directly from the speakers. This is versus more traditional Bluetooth speakers that require a device to be paired with it.
If you’ve always wanted to get your hands on a Sonos speaker but felt that they were a bit too expensive, then you could be in luck. According to an exclusive report from The Verge, it seems that Sonos could be working on a new soundbar with the model name S36 that will apparently be a budget model.
Sonos has a couple of soundbars to their name, like the flagship Arc which is priced at $899, and the Beam which is half the price at $449 but still pretty expensive. If the report from The Verge is accurate, this new S36 soundbar is expected to be priced at $249, making it a much more affordable alternative.
According to the report, the S36 will be a slightly smaller model compared to the Beam. It is said to measure 550mm wide, 69mm deep, and 100mm in height. For the most part the dimensions are the same as the Beam except for its width. To help keep costs down, Sonos is also reportedly doing away with features like Dolby Atmos and will not have built-in microphones for digital assistant functionality.
If this sounds like a soundbar you might be interested in, Sonos is rumored to be launching it on the 7th of June, so we should have an official announcement in the coming weeks.
