A recent statement from Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai during Alphabet’s Q1 Revenue Report referred to the Google Pixel 6 as the “fastest-selling Pixel ever.” He also expressed his excitement for the Google I/O event this coming May, which will showcase new and helpful features and services from Android.
His full statement reads “Pixel 6 is a huge step forward for the Pixel portfolio. And it’s been great to see the response from Pixel users. It’s the fastest-selling Pixel ever. And we are building broad consumer awareness of the brand and making good progress. I’m excited about the products we have coming and look forward to sharing more at Google I/O.”
The Pixel 6 was originally launched in October last year, alongside the Pixel 6 Pro. The phone features Android 12 and Google’s new Tensor chip, which it co-developed with Samsung, as the company steps away from using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon SoCs for its devices. In our initial review of the Pixel 6, we hailed it as the “only smartphone you should buy.”
Google’s I/O event is set to take place on May 11-12 this year. The two-day event usually showcases new software developments from the company, although it’s rumored that the much-anticipated Google Pixel 6a and Pixel Watch might be shown during the event.
