More management tools come to Google Docs

0

Google Docs has developed from a basic online text editor to a useful collaboration tool since the Smart Canvas upgrade last year. Now, the productivity tool hopes to be an alternative for project management software such as Notion or Asana.

In a blog post, Google unveiled two new enhancements to Docs’ increasing feature set, including submenu buttons and table templates. This allows you to include dropdown menus with predefined options into your document, which you can change to meet your needs. To help the team maintain records of a document’s state or project milestones, for example, you can alter the coloring and rename each option.

Dropdowns for your dropdowns

You can add two dropdown menus to your document by default, notably “project status” as well as “review status.” Users can remove or add another option to each menu if necessary to show the progress of a task or document. Similarly, the updated table templates can assist in transforming a plain table into one with fascinating formatting. The templates can also be used to track project materials or product roadmaps, for example.

The most recent feature set builds on the “@” sign, which brings up a set of block tools that turn your boring page into a smart board.

You can also access the new features by going to the Insert menu at the top of the screen.

The additional features will now be available across all Google Workspace plans, traditional G Suite Basic and Business tiers, and personal Google accounts over the next two weeks.
