Honor MWC 2022 - 2

Honor Play 30 is the company’s latest entry-level smartphone

If you’re in the market for a new smartphone and you don’t want to spend a lot of money, or a secondary smartphone that you don’t need to be too powerful, then Honor might have something for you as the company has since announced the Honor Play 30, the latest entry-level smartphone from the Chinese company.

In terms of specs, there’s really nothing to shout about. The Honor Play 30 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480+ chipset that is accompanied by 8GB of RAM. It does come with a VRAM feature that lets users “borrow” 2GB of RAM from the phone’s storage, essentially bumping it up to 10GB of RAM when the need arises.

The phone will feature a 6.5-inch HD+ display that unfortunately still uses TFT LCD technology, so users probably shouldn’t expect deep blacks or contrasty colors that one might get from OLED. Also, it has been a while since we saw a phone with a single camera which is what the Honor Play 30 is packing with a 13MP f/1.8 camera, while the front-facing camera is of the 5MP variety.

The phone comes with a 5,000mAh battery and supports 10W charging. No pricing was mentioned yet but this phone really does feel as basic as it gets, which is not a bad thing because presumably it means that it should also be very affordable. Pre-reservations are currently live in China although it is unclear if there are plans to eventually launch it in other markets.
