Last week, Sonos announced the Sonos Ray soundbar. While Sonos is no stranger to soundbars, what made the Ray different is that it is the company’s most affordable soundbar to date, and it looks like Sonos isn’t done making some of its audio systems more affordable.
According to a report from The Verge, it appears that Sonos is also working on an affordable version of its subwoofer that will apparently be called the Sub Mini. Sonos already has a subwoofer in its lineup called the Sonos Sub (Gen 3) which is priced at $749, so presumably this Sub Mini will be priced lower than that.
The report also unveils the potential design of the subwoofer, where instead of a box-shaped design, Sonos could opt for a cylindrical design that is a bit reminiscent of devices like Apple’s HomePod. There is no word on the dimensions, features, or pricing of this Sub Mini, so we’ll just have to wait.
That being said, Sonos CEO Patrick Spence did hint at a possible timeline of the device’s launch. During a February call with investors, Spence said that the company is focusing on launching new products in its existing categories for the fiscal year of 2022, which ends in September 2022, which means that an announcement could take place in the coming months.
