When it comes to power stations, there are many models to choose from depending on your needs. For some who rely on it primarily as a backup generator for their homes, these units can get quite big and bulky, but since it’s meant to sit in one place and not necessarily being ported around, it makes sense.
But what if you wanted something that is small, relatively lightweight that you can bring with you on the go, or keep with you inside of your home that you can move from room to room depending on the situation at hand? If that’s what you’re looking for, then maybe Bluetti’s EB3A power station, which was originally unveiled at CES 2022, could be what the doctor ordered.
For example, if you’re camping and you don’t want to give up certain creature comforts like having a portable heater, an electric kettle, or if you want to keep the lights on to ward off animals, charge your phone, laptop, camera, and so on, the EB3A will be small but powerful enough to get those things done.
It also means that you can move it around from room to room. While its battery might not be as big as some of its larger siblings, it can still be good enough to keep the essentials powered on in a room or your home when there is a blackout. This might be important, especially if your home has certain medical equipment that needs to be kept on at all times.
But don’t let its small stature fool you because while it is small, the EB3A comes with 9 different ports that will let you power up 9 different devices at once. This includes two AC outlets that can output as much as 600W, two USB-A ports, and one USB-C port that can supply 100W, meaning that you can use it to charge devices like laptops.
Thankfully, much like their other products, the Bluetti EB3A does support solar charging using the company’s solar cells. This means that when not in use during the day, you can set up the solar panels and recharge the power station to ensure that when night falls, you’ll have a power station that’s fully juiced up and ready to go.
According to Bluetti, charging it in turbo mode will take about 1.3 hours in total, so it will be a relatively quick recharge. The company also boasts that with its fast charging technology in turbo mode, it can boost the power station’s battery from 0% to 80% in just 30 minutes, so if you don’t need it to be fully charged, 30 minutes will give you up to 80% battery which should be sufficient for most cases.
Seeing as how power stations aren’t necessarily a daily use kind of gadget, it means that it should be able to last you for years to come. Bluetti also says that unlike lithium-ion batteries which is what you would typically find in mobile power banks, the use of LiFePO4 is also safer.
Bluetti is expected to make the EB3A available for purchase on the 14th of June via its website. The company says that they will begin shipping out orders as quickly as one week, and that those who place their orders early will also be eligible for an early bird discount that knocks 23% off the asking price.
