Google Weather app for Android tablets is now available

The Google Weather app was previously only available on Android phones, but now it is available on tablets as well.

Previously, Android tablet users could only get rudimentary weather information from Google Search results. It was a straightforward card with a slider for changing the time of day and a date switcher underneath it.

The new experience begins with rich results, which prominently display Google’s Weather Frog, as well as a graph of the hourly temperature. There’s a link to “Hourly, humidity, wind, and more” that takes you to the entire app, which would be technically part of the Google app and updated by it.

This launches the Google Weather app for phones, replete with a portrait-only user interface even when the phone is in landscape mode.

The only notable change is that Weather now takes almost the whole screen, which makes sense given how information-dense the app already is. There are still only three tabs, with users being able to swipe up on Today and Tomorrow to see even more information.

When you launch Google Weather on a tablet for the first time, you’ll be asked to add an icon to your home screen. From the avatar menu in the top-right corner, you can make that shortcut again at any moment.

The update can be found on several tablets running Google app 13.22.12.26.
