Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis will have a closed beta in 2022, according to the announcement made during the Final Fantasy 7 25th Anniversary live on Thursday.
The mobile game is a less technically demanding version of the Final Fantasy 7 franchise, encompassing not just the original game’s story but also that of the spin-off games.
This game will be free to play with in-app purchases, but there are no details on how the in-app transactions would function. Similar to Final Fantasy 15 Pocket Edition, you just might have to buy subsequent chapters of the story as you go.
The new teaser featured a lot of gameplay as well as CG cutscenes that look really impressive for a smartphone game. It also featured loads of cutscenes from Crisis Core, as well as the party dressed in unusual clothes not seen in the original game.
The original trailer listed not just Final Fantasy 7, but also the movie Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children, the mobile phone game Before Crisis, the PSP (PlayStation Portable) exclusive game Crisis Core, and the PlayStation 2’s Dirge of Cerberus.
Because Before Crisis was never released to the public in the West, this will be many people’s first exposure to the prequel plot. Western editions of Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus were made, but they were never converted to later systems, making them difficult to officially play for new fans.
