Google Find My Device Fold 3 and Flip 3

Cheaper Samsung foldables could be a thing in the next 1-2 years

Right now the cheapest Samsung foldable phone you can buy is the Galaxy Z Flip 3 which is priced just a hair under $1,000. Even then, $999 is still a lot of money to pay for a phone, but we imagine that a good bulk of the costs probably goes to the display.

The good news is that if you were hoping to see a cheaper foldable, we might not have to wait too long. This is according to a report on Korean website Naver where they claim that Samsung is apparently working to bring the costs down where by 2024, we could see Samsung foldables priced under $800.

Now, $800 is still nothing to sneeze at and isn’t even cheap enough to be called a mid-ranger, but at $800, we imagine that more people would be inclined to adopt a foldable phone compared to the current prices we’re seeing. These cheaper foldables are said to be marketed under the company’s Galaxy A-series of phones which are Samsung’s mid-range lineup.

If this sounds familiar, it is because it was just earlier this month that we heard a similar report, so it seems that the Korean media is at the very least corroborating those claims. In all fairness, this drop in price is inevitable. As we have seen with all types of technology, the older and more mature it gets, the cheaper it becomes.

Think back to the early days of the SSD where it used to cost $1 per gigabyte, but now it’s been more than halved, so cheaper foldables was something that was bound to happen eventually.
