Qualcomm’s recent announcement of its new wearable chipsets – the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 and W5+ Gen 1 – has coincided with announcements from Oppo and Mobvoi regarding their new and upcoming smartwatches. More specifically, Mobvoi has given fans a teaser for its next smartwatch, which is set to launch sometime this year.
An image was shown off by the company, which adds that the upcoming watch will be its most powerful smartwatch to date. While no specifics were given, the teaser photo shows a device that resembles the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra, Mobvoi’s current flagship wearable.
The company also states, “The next-gen TicWatch will include the latest version, the Snapdragon W5+ platform, offering enhanced battery life on a single charge, which will make it the most powerful smartwatch in the series to date. In addition, the Snapdragon W5+ platform’s powerful applications processor and ultralow power co-processor will enable Mobvoi to deliver a smartwatch with ultra-fast performance and connectivity.”
There’s no solid release date at the moment, however, but it’s likely that Mobvoi might launch the wearable within the coming months.
Qualcomm’s W5 Gen 1 and W5+ Gen 1 are expected to feature upgrades with performance, power efficiency, and more. They will succeed the company’s older Wear 4100 chipset, which itself has been used in several smartwatches. It’s very likely that other brands might announce upcoming wearable devices as well, given the fanfare behind the new chipsets.
