While Samsung is not the only company pushing out foldable phones, they are pretty much the most dominant and most aggressive, but how dominant are we talking about? According to Samsung President TM Roh, he has revealed how many foldable phones the company shipped in 2021 alone.
According to Roh, he revealed that Samsung managed to ship a whopping 10 million foldables in 2021. Note that shipped phones does not equal phones sold, but presumably Samsung has ensured that they aren’t supplying more phones than there is demand, so the actual number of phones sold could potentially be around that mark.
While he doesn’t break down which foldables accounted for the most sales, it’s not hard to imagine that the Galaxy Z Flip 3 probably played a big role. Compared to the Fold 3, the Flip 3 is more affordable because at $999, it puts it up against other flagships, making it an easy choice for those who want something a little different. Plus it has a nostalgic form factor that we’re sure many users can appreciate.
Samsung has confirmed that they will be hosting its next Unpacked event on the 10th of August where their next-gen foldables will be announced. The company is also taking reservations for both the Fold 4 and Flip 4 where customers can get $200 in credit towards the phones if they reserve now.
