Last year, Huawei unveiled the MatePad Pro tablet which based on its 12.9-inch display, was clearly designed to be a competitor to Apple’s iPad Pro series. For those who prefer a smaller tablet, then you might be interested to learn that Huawei has since announced the MatePad Pro 11.
This new tablet will feature a slightly smaller 11-inch display, but it will have an upgrade over its predecessor. The MatePad Pro from 2021 only came with a 60Hz refresh rate, but for those who care about a faster refresh rate, the 2022 MatePad Pro 11 comes with a new 120Hz OLED screen, making your browsing and scrolling effects on the tablet buttery smooth.
Peeking under the hood, it seems that Huawei has equipped the tablet with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chipset that was largely used in 2021’s flagship phones, so while it is “old”, it is still very capable. Do take note that some markets might actually get the Snapdragon 870 variant, so your experience may vary.
Huawei has also actually bothered to equip the tablet with a dual camera setup consisting of a 13MP main shooter and an 8MP ultrawide, with a 16MP camera on the front for selfies and video calls. It also features the use of six speakers and four microphones, which feels like overkill, but it is designed to help with echo cancellation so your voice carries through clearer.
An 8,300mAh battery will keep the lights on, but we should also point out that this is smaller than the 10,050mAh battery found in last year’s model. The tablet will also launch with accompanying accessories (sold separately) which includes the Smart Magnetic keyboard and the M-Pencil stylus.
There is currently no word on pricing just yet, but pre-orders are expected to go live on the 19th of August and will officially be available for purchase on the 27th of August.
