Samsung launches a “try first, buy later” program in South Korea

Samsung will be announcing its upcoming foldables – the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 – in the next couple of weeks, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4. Both phones are expected to be pretty pricey, so we imagine that some users might be a bit hesitant on pulling the trigger.

This is why over in South Korea, Samsung has announced its “Galaxy To Go Earlybird” program, which is essentially a “try first, buy later” scheme where customers will be able to try out the new phones for themselves first before deciding whether or not they want to purchase it.

It won’t be available for everyone because it seems like it’s based on a raffle system, where customers who are interested can apply and if they’re selected, they’ll be able to participate in the program. Those who win will have 3 days to use the phone before deciding whether to return it or to purchase it.

Now, these types of programs aren’t exactly new, and to be fair, over in the US (and various other countries), Samsung does have a return policy. The only problem is that customers will need to pay upfront for the device, meaning that they’re out of pocket already. With this new program in South Korea, customers will essentially be able to try the phone for free.

We’re not sure if there are plans to eventually bring this program to the US, but for now it looks like only South Korea customers are eligible. In the meantime though, Samsung is running a promotion for its upcoming wearables where customers who place a reservation will get $200 in Samsung Credit.
