Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 versus Galaxy Z Flip3: two major upgrades
Nick Gray
If you’re looking for a reason to upgrade from the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 from last year’s model, you’ve come to the right place. The new Z Flip may not look all that different when compared to the Z Flip3, but there are a couple of reasons why you should consider upgrading.
The overall look and feel of the new Flip4 is the same as its predecessor, but Samsung has managed to shave off 0.3mm from the width and 0.8mm from the height of the phone while keeping the internal and cover displays exactly the same size. Unfortunately, the weight of the phone has increased to 187g from 183g, but that’s for a very good reason. The bump in weight is due to the new 3700 mAh battery capacity, which is up from 3300 mAh, delivering a 12% increase. The new battery size also comes with a new 25W charging speed which makes the Flip4 a lot more competitive with other flagship-tier devices.
The second major upgrade that the Galaxy Z Flip4 is getting is the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Not only is the chipset much more powerful than the Snapdragon 888, but it’s more efficient as well. Samsung is also giving buyers a new 512GB storage option, but it’s not getting the same 1TB of storage tier as the Galaxy Fold4 is.
