Oppo’s next foldable phone could be a creaseless wonder
Back in 2021, Oppo unveiled their first ever foldable phone, the Oppo Find N. This means that this year, we expect the company will be following up with a new model, possibly the Oppo Find N2.
Whatever the name Oppo is deciding to call it, one of its potential design changes has been revealed. This is actually according to Pete Lau, who is Oppo’s Chief Product Officer (and also OnePlus’ co-founder) who in a post on Weibo, claimed that crease on the inner foldable display of the phone will “not be a problem”.
The crease has actually been a sticking point for many foldable phones. This is due to the nature of the foldable display technology, which all things considered is relatively new. Just like how when you fold a piece of paper, there is a crease when you fold a foldable display. While improvements have been made over the years, the crease is still very obvious amongst foldable devices.
We’re not sure what kind of changes Oppo will be making to the technology to achieve a creaseless (or near creaseless) design, but it will be interesting to see if Oppo will be able to achieve what Samsung couldn’t. There is no mention of when the next-gen Oppo foldable will launch, but seeing as the Oppo Find N launched in December 2021, perhaps December 2022 could be a good date.
