One of the biggest drawbacks to WhatsApp is that it is strictly mobile only, or rather, mobile and desktop. This does create some limitations, especially for those who might prefer being able to freely switch between their phone, computer, and tablet.
After all, if messenger apps like Discord, LINE, Messenger, Skype, and so on are all available on tablets, why not WhatsApp too, right? The good news is that WhatsApp could be working on that. According to a report from WABetaInfo, it appears that WhatsApp is getting ready to release a version of the companion mode that will let users link the app to an Android tablet.
In a way this shouldn’t be surprising. WhatsApp has been steadily working on features that would let users use it on multiple devices, but so far it seems to be limited to phones. The company also released an update that would allow users to use the app on their desktop independent of their phones, so the availability for tablets was really only a matter of time.
That being said, there is no mention of when this feature is expected to roll out to users, so if you’re an Android tablet user dying to use WhatsApp on it, you might have to practice a bit of patience, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information on when it does become available.
