Discord is a very popular messaging platform. It is largely free to use, it offers voice and video chatting capabilities, and it is particularly popular amongst gamers who want to use voice communication in games.
But apart from games, Discord is also a place for communities to gather, where creators on YouTube sometimes have their own Discord servers where they can chat with their fans and followers.
Now, like most messaging platforms, Discord lets users delete sent messages, but what if you only need to edit a sent message? That’s one of the features that Discord allows as well, and if you ever find yourself in a situation where you need to edit a sent message, here’s how you can go about it.
Editing a sent Discord message
- Launch Discord and go to the message that was sent
- Move your mouse over the message you want to edit.
- Click the pencil icon. Alternatively, you can press the up arrow key on your keyboard and it will allow you to edit the last message that you sent. If you’re on mobile, you can tap and hold the message to bring up the menu, then tap “Edit message”
- Make your edits and press enter
- Messages that have been edited will now show an “edited” label next to it
It does not appear that there is a time limit on editing sent messages, meaning that if for whatever reason you want to edit an older message, you can. Keep in mind that messages that are edited will show the label that it has been edited to prevent users from abusing the feature for potential malicious purposes, but if your aim is just to edit typos then this shouldn’t be an issue.
