Google Chat is now getting custom emojis

On messenger platforms like Slack and Discord, there is support for custom emojis. What this means is that users can upload their own emojis to the server so that it can be used within that server.

This is like a fun way for companies and creators to spice up their chats and make it unique, and the good news is that if you’re a Google Chat user, it looks like Google has finally decided to implement something similar for its own messenger platform. According to Google:

“Emojis are a great way for people to express themselves in Google Chat. We’re excited to announce that we’re making emojis even more expressive and personalized by allowing people to create custom emojis. Everyone in an organization can view and use custom emojis uploaded by their colleagues in Chat messages and reactions.”

Google notes that admins can set organizational guidelines, which is to say that admins will be able to browse and moderate the use of these emojis to ensure that there are no emojis uploaded or used that do not adhere to a company’s guidelines, meaning that admins can delete emojis that might be rude or offensive.

It’s a pretty fun new feature so like we said, if you’re someone who uses Google Chat regulatory for work or personal communications, this could be something to look forward to.
