Sony is bringing multipoint support to some of its wireless earbuds

In the past, whenever you connect a Bluetooth headphone to a device, you can only listen to it from that device unless you manually switch over to a different device. This can be troublesome, but in recent times, we’re seeing more headphones and earbuds support multipoint audio.

For those unfamiliar, this basically means that the headphones or earbuds can remain connected to two different devices simultaneously, and we have some good news because Sony has announced that they will be bringing that feature via a firmware update to several of its popular wireless earbuds.

This includes the  Sony LinkBuds, LinkBuds S, and the WF-1000XM4, which are widely regarded as being one of the best true wireless earbuds of 2022. This update is expected to be made available in the coming months, where it will roll out to the LinkBuds in November, followed by the WF-1000XM4 in December and January.

While earbuds do get firmware updates from time to time, this is actually quite a huge deal. This is because by introducing multipoint audio support, it can change the way that we use these earbuds. Some users might have been put off by the lack of support, especially if they switch between their laptops and phones and don’t want to have to manually reconnect them.

So if you own any of these earbuds or have been considering them, then this is an update you won’t want to miss.
