With the exception of a few tablets, it’s not often that we see tech products – much less smartwatches – aimed at kids. It looks like Garmin aims to change that with the launch of its new Garmin Bounce, a smartwatch designed for young ‘uns, with a wealth of features included as well.
In terms of display, the Garmin Bounce comes with a 1.3″ LCD touchscreen, made with chemically-strengthened glass. The body meanwhile will be made from reinforced polymer, with silicone straps and 5 ATM water-resistance. According to Garmin, the watch will have up to two days’ worth of battery life.
The watch also comes with LTE connectivity, although a subscription plan is required for this feature, which comes with other features like livetrack, location tracking, boundary entry and exit, as well as assistance modes. This is in addition to all the usual smartwatch features like sleep tracking, step counting, interval laps, and GPS speed and distance, to name a few. The watch will be compatible with the Garmin Jr. app, so parents can communicate with their kids via two-way text and voice messaging.
The Garmin Bounce is priced at around $150, and is available in Black Camo, Green Burst, and Lilac Floral.
