The smartphone market has peaked where the performance gains we’re seeing aren’t quite as big as they used to be. This is normal for a lot of industries, which means that handset manufacturers now need to come up with new features that they can market to their customers.
In the case of the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, a report from Korea has revealed that one of the potential features of the phone is satellite connectivity. This is something we’re starting to see in more phones these days. Huawei was the first to the market with the feature and was quickly followed by Apple.
While nothing has been confirmed yet, we can’t say we’re too surprised by this news. Satellite connectivity allows users to remain connected in areas where cell coverage is not available. It isn’t necessarily designed to allow users to continue going online and posting to social media, but it will give users a way of contacting emergency services if they need one and cannot get a signal.
We’re not sure how Samsung plans to market the feature to make it different from the competition, but like we said, nothing has been confirmed yet so it’s best to take this with a grain of salt and hopefully come early 2023, we will have more details to share with you.
