Govee is a brand that many of you might be familiar with when it comes to smart lights. The company’s lineup includes smart LED bulbs, light strips, light bars, and more, everything you need to make the insides of your home smarter. But what if you wanted to make the outside of your home smart with LED lights?
If that is the case, not to worry because Govee has you covered too. In fact, with Christmas coming up soon and if you want to look for some LED lights to decorate your home with and make it look a little festive, then you might want to check out Govee’s permanent outdoor LED lights.
Easy to install
Installing electrical appliances in the past used to be quite difficult and in some cases, you might need to hire a professional which would only cost you more money. If you’re not someone who is particularly good with their hands, one of the selling points of the Govee outdoor lights is that they are very easy to install.
All you need to do is decide where you want the lights to go, clean the surface of the area with a piece of cloth or tissue, tear off the VHB gum on the back of the light, press and hold it down on the surface for more than 5 seconds, and you’re good to go. To string up the lights, there are screw clips that will help hold them into place to make sure that they are secure, but otherwise there’s no need to do any kind of in-depth wiring and cabling that would require a professional’s attention.
Govee notes that the lights can be mounted to a variety of surfaces including wood, fiber cement boards, metal, or vinyl.
Long-lasting and durable
Now, since these Govee lights are designed to be used outdoors (you can use them indoors if you wish), obviously they would be exposed to the elements like the sun, rain, humidity, cold and hot temperatures, and more.
Govee has designed these lights to withstand extreme temperatures ranging from -4F up to 140F. The lights themselves are also rated to last up to 50,000 hours, which means that even if you left them on 24 hours a day, it would be years before they burn out, which is one of the strengths of LEDs.
The lights themselves are also IP67 rated, so they should be able to withstand a bit of rain, but obviously don’t submerge them in water. Govee has also designed the wires to be durable where they are said to be capable of withstanding up to 11.02lbs of tensile force.
Different themes to choose from
One of the perks of smart lighting is that you get to control the colors of the lights to suit your needs and the mood. By using the accompanying Govee app, users will be able to choose from a wide variety of colors and themes, which the company says has been inspired by nature and the festive holidays.
Now that Christmas is coming up soon, if you plan to use these lights as part of your Christmas decorations, you will be able to find themes that will suit the holidays. Plus, come next year instead of having to take them down when Christmas is over, you can even theme it so that it matches other holidays like the Lunar New Year, Valentine’s Day, Halloween, Easter, and more.
Digital assistant support
Speaking of control, in addition to being able to control the lights using the accompanying smartphone app, Govee’s permanent outdoor LED lights are also compatible with digital assistants such as Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
This means that if you already have a smart home ecosystem setup with a bunch of other devices that are also compatible with either Google Assistant or Alexa, you can add Govee’s lights to it and control it using your voice from either your smartphone, a smart speaker, or a smart display.
Pricing and availability
So, if you think that Govee’s permanent outdoor LED lights has ticked all the requirements that you are looking for in outdoor LED lighting, the starter kit which includes 50 feet of LED light strips will be priced at $199.99 and can be purchased from Govee’s website. If 50 feet of LED strips isn’t enough for you, Govee is selling extra strips by themselves that you can add to your purchase if you want.
