When the Nothing Phone (1) first launched, it was not available in the US. It was kind of a pity as the phone is a very attractive handset and is priced pretty decently too. The good news for those in the US who are looking forward to future Nothing products is that the company is getting ready to launch a handset stateside.
Speaking to CNBC in an interview, Nothing CEO Carl Pei revealed that Nothing is in talks with US carriers to potentially launch a new device in the states. Pei also revealed some of the challenges of launching a phone in the US, which is why the company opted to skip the US market for the Nothing Phone (1).
“The reason why we didn’t launch in the U.S. is because you need a lot of additional technical support, to support all the carriers and their unique customizations that they need to make on top of Android. We felt that we weren’t ready before. Now we are in discussions with some carriers in the U.S. to potentially launch a future product there.”
He also expressed his opinion that should they launch a phone in the US market, it would help with their growth tremendously. Pei also spoke about the possibility of taking on the likes of Apple, who is one of the biggest smartphone manufacturers around alongside Samsung.
When exactly we will see a Nothing phone launch in the US is unclear, but if you’re a fan based on the reviews and design, this could be something to look forward to in the future.
