Component change will make the Samsung Galaxy S23 even faster!

Not all memory is equal. For example for computers, just because two computers have 16GB of RAM each and 1TB of storage, it doesn’t mean that they will perform similarly because for memory like RAM and storage, there are different types of memory that can perform better than others.

The same can be said for our phones, so while the Samsung Galaxy S23 might not necessarily be seeing a bump in RAM or storage, they will still be upgraded nonetheless. This is according to a tweet by Ice Universe who claims that the Galaxy S23 series will be using LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

For those wondering what the big deal is and what the differences are, in terms of RAM, LPDDR5X has a larger data rate of 8,533Mbps versus LPDDR5 which has 6,400Mbps. The concept is similar for UFS 4.0 versus 3.1, which is what the Galaxy S22, where UFS 4.0 has a larger maximum bandwidth of up to 23.3Gbps per lane, double that of UFS 3.1, thus allowing more data to be read/written, making it faster in the process.

As to what this means for the end user, basically it means that apps should launch faster, more apps should be able to stay open in the background, and when taking photos or videos, they will also be saved much faster to your phone’s storage. We’re not sure if these differences can be truly felt in real-world usage, but they’re still upgrades worth looking forward to all the same.
