We have been hearing the rumors that OnePlus could be working on their own foldable smartphone, but the company has never quite confirmed it, although the closest we got was at the OnePlus 11 event where they shared a teaser image of the phone.
For those wondering about the device, you’ll be pleased to learn that OnePlus has indeed confirmed its existence and we also have a rough timeline of when it is expected to be released. This is according to a report from TechCrunch where they sat down in an interview with the company’s COO Kinder Liu.
According to Liu, it was confirmed that the company would be launching their first foldable phone in the second half of the year. Liu also confirmed that the foldable will be a flagship handset, and stated that the reason why they took so long was because they wanted to release the “best one”.
Not much is known about the handset at the moment, but previous rumors did suggest that OnePlus could be drawing inspiration from the Oppo Find N. Seeing as how both companies are owned by the same parent company and have worked together in the past, this shouldn’t be too surprising.
Liu was also quoted as saying that their foldable phone will have the “signature OnePlus fast and smooth experience”, and that they want to launch a device that will be at the “pinnacle experience of today’s foldable market”. In any case, seeing as the phone is planned for the second half of 2023, it might be a while before we actually get more details about it.
