As far as smartphone leaks go, there’s no shortage of info with regards to the Pixel 7a. Earlier on, a Twitter post listed some key hardware details of the Google’s yet-to-be-launched smartphone, and now a newer source has posted some photos of a Pixel 7a prototype in full view.
These new photos come from Zingnews, a Vietnam-based website. The images show a Pixel 7a prototype up close, which resembles a mix of design elements from the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 6a from last year. The device now comes with the metal frame around the camera lens, but retains the glossy rear panel.
The post states that the device is a software prototype from the manufacturer (aka Google) and thus is not the retail version that we might see on shelves. Additionally, the device was locked remotely after the images were shared online.
As for hardware details, an earlier leak claims that the phone might come with 6.1-inch OLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate, the Google Tensor G2 chip, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1, a 64MP Sony IMX787 sensor and 12MP UW camera, 5W wireless charging, as well as Android 13.
It’s very likely that the Pixel 7a will be “officially” unveiled at this year’s Google I/O, which is scheduled to take place on May 10. The event might also show us more information regarding the upcoming Pixel tablet. At the moment, Google’s most affordable smartphone is the Pixel 6a, which shares a similar design and specs to 2021’s Pixel 6 series.
