Companies like OnePlus and Oppo operate in various markets around the world, like the US, Asia, and Europe. But recently, reports from Chinese website 36Kr and tipster Max Jambor are claiming that OnePlus and Oppo are actually looking to exit European and UK markets.
Apparently this is due to their investments in those markets, where it seems that both companies aren’t making as much money as they would have hoped and that they are operating on a loss. The good news for European customers is that it looks like those claims have since been denied.
In a statements made by OnePlus and Oppo to Android Police, both companies (which are owned by BBK Electronics) have denied the report and stated that they do not have plans to leave the EU. In a statement made by OnePlus, the company says:
“OnePlus will not exit from Europe and the UK and maintains stable operations in local markets. OnePlus will continue to invest in Europe and provide more innovative product and solutions for its users.”
Oppo also followed up with a statement of their own which reads:
“OPPO is committed to all the existing European markets. We had a great start in 2023 with the successful launches of several products in Europe and have a line-up of upcoming products for the rest of the year. As always, OPPO will continue to provide more innovative products and the best-in-class service for users moving forward.”
So, if you’re living in the EU and love using OnePlus or Oppo’s phones, you can rest assured that both companies are here to stay.
