In a move that could probably considered as one of the most unexpected pairings in tech, Google Fi recently announced that 5G support will finally come for users with iOS devices currently on the latest iOS 16.4 system update.

Google Fi’s official official Twitter account sent out a post that 5G coverage will now be available for all iPhones with support for 5G connectivity. The service was obviously not possible prior to the new update, although iOS 16.4 now makes it a reality.
Google’s support page for Fi does clarify some factors that might affect this however, including carrier network capabilities, network traffic, location and signal strength, to name a few. It should also be noted that the addition of 5G connectivity is only limited to iPhones at the moment, so Apple Watch users might want to keep an eye out for any developments in the future.
A while back, data from Counterpoint Research reveals that the top ten selling smartphones worldwide in 2022 were comprised mostly of Apple iPhones, with the iPhone 13 taking the number one spot, amounting to 5.0% of the chart. The newer iPhone 14 Pro came in eighth place, despite being a newer handset, with the iPhone SE 2022 coming in second to last.
