If you’re running a Google Pixel handset as your daily driver and you’re noticing that maybe its connectivity to either your carrier’s network or to your home WiFi isn’t as good as it should be, then you might want to keep an eye out for the upcoming Android 13 update.
This is according to a post by Google on Reddit in which Google announced that in the latest Android 13 QPR3 Beta, they are introducing some modem updates that will be available for eligible Pixel handsets. Google does not dive into what these “modem updates” are, so we’re not sure if the update will introduce improvements to connectivity and/or speed, stability, or bug fixes for vulnerabilities.
According to Google’s release notes, the Pixel devices that are eligible for the upcoming update include the Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro, so if you happen to own an older Pixel handset not mentioned in this list, then you’re out of luck.
That being said, it could be a very minor and inconsequential update that you may or may not notice the differences in, but either way an update is still a good thing so keep an eye out for it when Google eventually releases it to the public.
