Nokia Quietly Backtracks on Pure UI Debut

Nokia’s announcement of its new “Nokia Pure” software interface was met with much curiosity from the online tech community, as well as Nokia fans. The digital design language was very much in line with the company’s new logo, although the announcement did cause some initial confusion as to whether or not the UI would make its way to Nokia mobile hardware.

Following this, it seems that the company has now somewhat backtracked on the unveiling of its new user interface – following the original link to the Nokia Pure webpage now yields an error message, without any remnants of the initial announcement. 

While no direct reason was given for the current state of the webpage, there’s some speculation that this is due to a simple misunderstanding of Nokia’s goal in unveiling the new UI, which was to be used solely for digital products such as app and software interfaces. The company denies that the Pure UI will be used in Android phones as a sort of “skin,” which a number of news publications mistakenly identified as such.

With all that said, we’ll just have to wait and see if Nokia decides to do a second take of Pure UI’s unveiling, hopefully clearing any confusion regarding the new interface.
