Not too long ago, HTC made a surprise comeback of sorts after announcing the Wildfire E3 Lite, a budget-friendly smartphone. With that being said, the company has announced yet another entry-level device in the form of the HTC Wildfire E2 Play.
Based on the phone’s spec sheet, it’s no secret that it’s a device meant for people on the hunt for a budget Android handset, featuring a 6.82-inch display with a waterdrop notch and 720 x 1640 pixel resolution, a Spreadtrum T606 chipset, 8MP front camera as well as a 48 MP main camera, 2 MP depth and macro sensors, and a 5MP ultrawide lens.
One caveat however is that the phone runs on Android 12, which at this point is rather old. On the other hand, there’s a much-welcome 8GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage, a USB-C port, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack.
HTC’s repertoire with its smartphones was at an all-time high in the early days of Android, with the company pushing out well-received devices like the HTC One series handsets. Its mobile endeavours fell somewhat short in the past few years, with the company now seeking to re-establish a presence in the Android handset market with a new batch of phones.
