Bluetti is no stranger when it comes to power stations. It is, after all, what the company is known for. Now, when it comes to power stations, there are various options that you can choose from depending on your needs.
You have smaller power stations which are more powerful than your regular power banks, but are also small and portable enough that you can bring it with you on trips so that when you’re outdoors and don’t have access to direct power, you can use the power stations to charge or power devices like stovetops, heaters, recharge your phone, power lights, and so on.
Then there are also power stations designed to be used as emergency backup power sources, perfect for those who have devices at home that need to be kept on all the time, like medical equipment, computers, and so on. If that’s something you’re more interested in, then you might want to check out Bluetti’s latest EP900 power station.
Modular design
One of the features that we love about the EP900 is that it is a modular power station system. Unlike some power stations that only offer a fix battery capacity, the E900 is a modular system which means that users can add or remove batteries as and when they need.
So for example, if you have a lot of gadgets that need to be powered, or if you want to keep these devices powered for extended periods of time in case there is a prolonged blackout, you can actually pair the EP900 system with Bluetti’s B500 batteries.
Users will be able to equip the system with up to four B500 batteries that will have enough juice and power to last you for a considerable amount of time. Another benefit of this is that it reduces your reliance on the power grid which in turn could be a potential money saver and can help save the environment.
The EP900 system has also been designed to be used indoors and outdoors and has an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance, and it comes with a protective case to ensure that it is protected during harsh weather conditions.
Going green
Speaking of saving the environment, one of the reasons why you might want to consider a power station system like the EP900 is because you could, in theory, never have to rely on your local power grid. This is because like most of Bluetti’s power stations, you can recharge the batteries of the EP900 using solar energy.
This means that during the day, you can recharge the batteries and use it at night, and repeat that cycle again every day, thus never running out of battery and potentially eliminating the need to draw power from the grid. Of course in reality that seems like a stretch, but at the very least if you use the power station and solar energy to recharge the batteries, you can power more devices in your home and reduce the amount you spent on your energy bills every month.
Alternatively, Bluetti has also equipped the EP900 with Peak Load Shifting via the Bluetti app. Basically what this does is that it ensures that your batteries are only charged when the usage of the grid is low, which in turn could mean lower prices, so that you can effectively save money that way as well.
The EP900 has also been certified to sell electricity, which means that in the event you don’t need the energy and have managed to store an excess, you can always sell it back and make some money in the process.
Power anything
Now, one of the concerns and “failures” of some power stations is that they aren’t powerful enough to power any and all of your appliances because naturally, some appliances do require a bit more power than others.
That won’t be an issue for the most part with the EP900 and B500 battery combo. If you were to get the EP900 system complete with four B500 batteries, you can look forward to up to 9kW of pure sine wave output power, along with a max capacity of 39kWh. This means that it will be powerful enough to keep your home up and running even in the event of a blackout and for an extended period of time.
Bluetti has achieved this by using LiFePO4 battery cells which are rated to last anywhere between 4-6 times longer than that regular lithium battery, which means that it will probably take years before you notice any kind of degradation in its battery capacity.
Pricing & availability
If the Bluetti EP900 sounds like the perfect power station for your home, you will be able to grab one for yourself either in late April or early May. The company has not announced the pricing just yet, but it might be worth keeping an eye out for it if you think that the EP900 is everything you want from a power station system.
